How to Make Country Heart Garland

    • 1). Trace the outline of a heart template onto copper foil. Cut the foil around the heart outline with sharp scissors or tin snips.

    • 2). Place the copper heart on a flat board. Insert one push pin into each side of the heart to secure it to the wood. Place the push pins across from each other at the widest section of the heart. Leave 1/8-inch of space from the edge of the heart to the push pin.

    • 3). Strike the copper heart all over with a ball-peen hammer. The hammered copper effect fits in well with a country style decor. Remove the push pins after the heart is completely hammered.

    • 4). Repeat steps 1 through 3 to make enough hammered copper hearts to create the desired length of the country garland.

    • 5). Cut a 3/4-inch length of 24-gauge copper wire. Thread one end through one push-pin hole on one side of one copper heart. Thread a crimp bead over the end of the wire. Crimp the bead with crimping pliers. Thread the other end of the same wire through a push-pin hole on another hammered copper heart. Secure the wire in place by crimping a crimp bead. The two hearts are now connected.

    • 6). Repeat Step 5 to connect all of the copper hearts to make the country garland.
