Some Words of Advice to Fresh MBA Graduates
Completion of Master of Business Administration is the first step in securing a good job but the business world demands much more than that. The candidates are fresh out of college and armed with the arsenal of technical knowhow of business administration, which is a prime but not the towering criterion for surviving in the fast paced, cut throat and dynamic world of business. Intelligence is an underlying trait of any student of MBA but it alone does not fetch them good jobs in multinational companies. It takes much more than bookish knowledge for getting your dream job. Here are few words of advice for all fresh Master in Business Administration students raring to make a difference and a name in the business world;
Ü Improving Interpersonal Skills
It is very important for the candidates to work on their interpersonal skill which means nurturing their talent for interacting well with people; this is by understanding them first and making them understand your concern for them. First of all the candidate must be confident and self assured, with ability to stay calm in adverse pressure of work environment. When you go for an interview the interviewer first checks how confident and smart you are. Confidence adds a feather to your cap.
Secondly, you should learn to be social and communicative. You surely would not want to be socially gauche with nobody to talk to in your office, would you? Improving your relationship with co-workers will not only make you socially urbane but also provide a good opportunity to share your ideas and get relevant feedback. You can improve your communication skills by practicing everyday for an hour or so. You can take up any current topic, write down few important points and then start speaking loudly for 2 minutes without any hesitation or fillers in between. You should be optimistic and build a positive attitude towards whatever job you undertake. A person who is a good listener and who respects others perspective is considered to be a good team leader, who is reliable and empathetic. Companies would definitely want to hire such candidates as they would be an asset to these companies.
Ü Importance of Networking
Many people find it awkward to approach someone to ask for their advice in getting a good job or in asking job related query but networking plays a very important role for people searching for jobs. So a simple initiation lies in making a large network. Professional networking site like LinkedIn can be very useful in making connections and finding a right guide.
