RSA Course (Australia) Online Vs Offline
Each Australian state and territory has its own liquor authority and so the RSA course requirements change from state to state, territory to territory:
• Queensland: Office of Liquor Gaming and Racing (OLGR)
• New South Wales: Liquor and Gaming Control Authority (CLGCA)
• Australian Capital Territory: Office of Regulatory Services (ORS)
• Victoria: Director of Liquor Licensing
• Tasmania: Commissioner for Licensing
• South Australia: Office of Liquor and Gambling Commissioner (OLGC)
• Western Australia: Department of Racing Gaming and Liquor (DRGL)
• Northern Territory: Licensing Regulation and Alcohol Strategy (LRAS)
Queensland: OLGR must approve a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) before it is able to deliver valid RSA training and the subsequent QLD RSA certificate required throughout the state for all staff involved in the sale or service of alcohol. A non OLGR accredited RTO will not be able to provide the QLD RSA certificate. A list of Queensland accredited RTOs is available from OLGR.
New South Wales: CLGCA approved NSW RSA certificates can only be distributed by an RTO that is authorised by CLGCA to deliver the Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB009A) unit in New South Wales. An RTO that is not authorised to deliver the RSA training in New South Wales by CLGCA cannot provide the required NSW RSA certificate. RTOs authorised to train in New South Wales are available from CLGCA.
Australian Capital Territory: An RTO must be accredited by ORS to deliver RSA training in the ACT. A non ORS approved RTO cannot provide the RSA ACT certificate. Accredited ACT RTOs deliver the Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB009A) unit of competency.
Victoria: The Director of Liquor Licensing will accept as a Victorian RSA certificate the completion of in person Director of Liquor Licensing approved RSA training and the subsequent RSA Victoria certificate. Or the completion of Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB009A) anywhere in Australia with the additional completion of the Director of Liquor Licensing's free, online Victorian-specific refresher.
Tasmania: The RTO has to be accredited to deliver training in Tasmania by the Commissioner for Licensing before it can provide the required Tasmanian RSA certificate.
South Australia: Managers and supervisors only need to apply through their licensee (employer) to OLGC to become an Approved Responsible Person. An Approved Responsible Person must personally supervise a licensed venue at all times it is open to the public. This process includes completion of the Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB009A) unit.
Western Australia: A Statement of Attainment for completing the Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB009A) unit, obtained in any Australian state or territory, is recognised by DRGL as complying with liquor legislation.
Northern Territory: A Statement of Attainment for completing the Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB009A) unit, obtained in any Australian state or territory, is recognised by LRAS as complying with liquor legislation.
