Sugar Free Lemon Lime Vinaigrette

When it comes to finding a salad dressing without sugar the challenge is often immense. Many store bought dressings and even dry mixes contain some type of sugar. Some have high fructose corn syrup and many other preservatives to keep it on the shelf longer. There really isn't a question that making simple salad dressing at home is the best option when living a sugar free lifestyle

When you have a stocked Sugar Free Pantry full of products for your sugar free diet you can really make anything you want at home and salad dressing is one of the easiest. It's a great way to accommodate those with food allergies or those who need a low salt diet. You can modify and customize to suit your needs in your family. Take this basic recipe and change it up to what you like. Not a fan of limes, just eliminate and add more lemon. You could also add some minced garlic if you prefer. Try subbing out the Dijon mustard for something a bit more spicy if you desire.

The sweetener I prefer is lemon liquid stevia. This is optional if you're not a fan of sweet dressings. If you try the recipe without sweetener but feel it might need a little sweetness and you don't like stevia try Truvia or Swerve. There's plenty of sugar free substitutes you just need to find the one you like the most and experiment with it in recipes.

Maybe you're just starting on a sugar free diet and you may be asking yourself, "What is the big deal, it's just a little salad dressing, who cares if it has some sugar in it right?" But for many on a sugar free diet even "just a little" taste of sugar can cause a full blown craving which can derail all the rest of the day, the week, even the month. Honestly once you start having a little, your body will most certainly crave more and then you begin a vicious cycle of cravings that can be hard to break free from. No need to let it get the best of you. Control those sugar cravings by keeping sugar out of your system and enjoy recipes made at home instead of store bought.
