    • 1). Select "File" and then "Open" to choose the image you want to alter.

    • 2). Ensure that all layers associated with the image are edited by clicking "Layer" and then "Merge Visible."

    • 3). Pick the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" from the tool box found on the left side of the screen. Outline the edges of the image with your cursor and press the letter "Q" on your keyboard. The area you selected to represent the border will be highlighted in red.

    • 4). Create the jagged edge by choosing "Filter," then "Pixelate" and "Crystallize." Select a cell size setting between 8 and 12 and press "OK" followed by the "Q" button on your keyboard.

    • 5). Remove the red highlight by clicking "Select" and then "Inverse" followed by the "Delete" button on your keyboard.
