The Braided Headband

• One of the hottest looks in braided accent hairstyles is the braided headband. The braided headband is a reverse french braid worked horizontally across the head. It can be worn right at the forehead or back on the crown of the head. This hairstyle does not require a lot of length and can work with long hair or even a shortish bob hairstyle. You can create a braided headband behind your bangs, or braid longer bangs into your accent braid. Pin the ends under your hair on one side. Accent an Updo

• Create a romantic look by adding loose french braids or several small braids into a classic updo. Braid hair at the front or sides of your head and tuck the ends of your braids along with the rest of your hair into a chignon or bun at the back of your head. This braided accent hairstyle can be used with a full up do or a half updo; however, it is best suited to medium to long hair. • Accent braids can work surprisingly well with shorter hair. While you will need long hair for braided pigtails or buns, you can work french braids all around your head with even short to medium length hair. This is a great option for a formal look and can help to manage awkward growing out phases. Work one tight french braid starting at each side of your part. When you reach the back of your head, tuck and pin the ends of your braid. Add a flower or jeweled accent. You can also purchase braided hair extensions to pin in your hair headband style to mimic the accent braid look without the effort or before your hair is quite long enough for this trendy braided hairstyle.
