    • 1). Place two sheets of newspaper flat on a table and put the checks on top of it face up.

    • 2). Place the checkbook register face side down evenly on top of the checks.

    • 3). Trace around the checks with the pen.

    • 4). Measure the thickness of the checks and register with a ruler. Mark this measurement above the long side of the checks on the newspaper.

    • 5). Slide the checks and register up to this measurement and trace around the checks again with the pen.

    • 6). Measure two inches above the second rectangle and two inches below the first rectangle.

    • 7). Cut out the square-like shape from the newspaper with the scissors.

    • 8). Fold the newspaper around the checks and register and tuck the extra ends under the top flap of the register and under the last check in the pack of checks.

    • 9). Cut pieces of clear plastic packaging tape and cover every inch of the newspaper except for the parts touching the register and pack of checks. This will keep the newsprint off of your hands and allow you to remove the check register and used pack of checks as necessary.
