Power

• 1). Check that the battery is inserted correctly if the camera does not turn on. To insert the battery, open the battery cover on the bottom of the camera by sliding it outward and then lifting up. Slide the battery into the battery compartment with the gold terminals facing down and the orange stripe facing the front of the camera. Press down on the battery cover and slide it back into the locked position.
  
  
• 2). Charge the battery by plugging the small end of the power adapter into the mini-USB connector on the left side of the camera and then plugging the large end of the adapter into an electrical outlet.
  
  
• 3). Clean the gold battery terminals with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dirt. The camera may not run if the battery terminals are dirty.
  
  
• 4). Take the battery out of the Fujifilm Z35 and place it in your pocket to warm it up if you are shooting pictures in a cold location. Do not reinsert the battery until you are ready to take a picture.
  
  

Pictures Not Recording

• 1). Check that the memory card is properly inserted in your Fujifilm Z35 or the camera will not take a picture when you press the shutter button. To insert the memory card, open the battery cover and slide the memory card into the slot above the battery with the contacts facing the back of the camera. You will hear a click when the memory card is fully inserted. Close the battery cover after inserting the card.
  
  
• 2). Clean the memory card contacts with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dirt that could prevent a proper connection with the camera.
  
  
• 3). Delete images from the memory card to free up space for additional pictures. To delete images, press the ">" button on the back of the camera. The last picture you took with your Fujifilm Z35 will appear on the screen. Use the right and left directional buttons to navigate to the picture you want to delete. Press the "Menu/OK" button, highlight "Erase" with the up or down directional buttons and press the right directional button to bring up the "Erase" menu. Highlight "Frame" and press the "Menu/OK" button to delete the image.
  
  

Camera Does Not Focus

• 1). Move away from the subject of the picture if it is close to the camera or place the camera in macro mode to take close pictures. To start macro mode, press the button with the flower icon on it located on the back of the camera. Macro mode allows you to take clear pictures of close objects.
  
  
• 2). Turn off macro mode if the subject is too far away from the camera, or move closer to the subject. To turn off macro mode, press the button with the flower icon.
  
  
• 3). Enable focus lock when there is no central subject to focus on and the auto-focus is not working. To use focus lock, point the camera at an object that is at the same relative distance as the subject of your photograph and press and hold the shutter button halfway. The camera will focus on the object. Point the camera at the subject of the photograph while still holding the shutter button halfway. Compose the shot and press the shutter button fully to take the picture.
