    • 1). Distribute the square pieces of white paper so each child has one. Demonstrate how to rotate the square so that the points face up and down like a rhombus. This is a good time to remind young children that when you rotate the square it does not change its name even though it looks a bit different.

    • 2). Show the children how to fold the square so that the top point meets the bottom point. This does change the shape of the paper to a triangle. Help the children to realize that two triangles can be combined to make one square.

    • 3). Hold the triangle so that the base is on top. The point at the bottom will become the nose of the dalmatian. The two points at the sides will become the ears. Turn each ear point down so that they fold over to the front of the dog and are separated by a short straight line at the top of the dog's head.

    • 4). Draw black eyes and a black nose using the black crayon or marker. Now all that you need to do is add spots to make the dalmatian look realistic.
