The key to success in all areas of life is to write specific goals.
By not working toward specific written goals that are both inspiring and well considered you are either allowing your life to be determined by chance or by other people's agendas.
International marketing and self development expert Brian Tracy says "If what you are doing is not moving you towards your goals, then it's moving you away from your goals.
"
Simple as that.
You decide to go on a trip.
You leave home early, The bustle of the city a memory as you leave the choked freeway and drive into the countryside.
You come to an intersection you have never seen before and you realize you have left your map at home.
It doesn't matter you tell yourself.
You vaguely know where you are going.
Or do you? An hour later you are hopelessly lost and regret leaving home.
Do you treat goal setting in the same way? You are not alone.
Most people do.
Having clear written goals will give you direction and enable you to accomplish a lot in a short time.
The magic that happens through written goal setting has not been experienced by most people.
So they simply don't bother to do it.
They can't see what is in it for them.
An ideal way to categorize personal goals are under 4 broad headings.
  • MATERIAL GOALS (Finance and possessions)
  • ACTIVITIES (Activities and Events that provide inspiration)
  • SELF DEVELOPMENT (Ways to develop your highest potential)

But it is worth it.
