Simple Smoky Eye: Step-By-Step for Creating a Subtle Day or Night Look
I went to a Real Techniques product launch where makeup artist Samantha Chapman gave me a subtle smoky eye look that can take you from day to night. This tutorial uses brushes from the Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman makeup brush line.

Here are the simple steps for a subtle and classic smoky eye:
Sam prepped my face by dabbing on moisturizer using the Expert Face Brush. She used the same brush to apply foundation, which will help work the foundation into the skin as well as help prevent streaking and provide a flawless base. She put a little foundation on the brush and using circular motions, buffed the product all over my face. Next she chose a brown eye shadow and with a brow brush swept the powder onto the brows, then pushed the color gently through the brows, in soft upward motions.
Using the Real Techniques Domed Shadow Brush apply a neutral cream-to-powder? eye shadow like MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot, all over the lid, working upwards toward the brow. Use a shade slightly darker than your natural lid color for a just hint of color.
Next apply a dark brown eye shadow shade (like MAC Embark) to the outside corners of the eyes in a sideways "V" shape using a Real Techniques Shading Brush. Layer on the color and be sure to blend.
Push a very dark brown (like MAC Eyeshadow in Sketch) along the lash line with the Real Techniques Brow Brush.

Using the brow brush and a black shade (MAC Eyeshadow in Black Tied) line at the outer corner to create a gradient effect at the lashline.
Add a little sparkle to the center of the eyelid using the Real Techniques Shading Brush.
?
Blend concealer underneath the eyes using a super soft brush like the Deluxe Crease Brush.
Then use the Shading Brush to get to the inner corners.
Apply a bronze eyeliner pencil along the waterline to add drama.
To keep concealer in place and prevent creasing, set with the Setting Brush and a loose powder.
