Video: What to Use for a Stiff Bottom in a Tote
Video Transcript
Hi. I'm Linda Hutchinson. Today, I'm going to show you how to make a stiffer bottom in a tote bag. A lot of times when you use a tote bag and you put some heavy things in there, maybe smaller items that are heavier they tend to sag in the middle or whatever and it just kind of loses its shape. And especially if you have like some kind of pretty design or something on the front you want it to stay flat. So one good way to do that is to get some plastic canvas, you can get it at any craft store and it's very easy to cut with regular scissors. You can get it in all kinds of colors. I'm going to use black here because it matches the tote. But there are all kinds of colors available. I'm just going to cut off the hang tag here and put that to the side and then I'm going to cut this roughly in half. You know, you can measure it out exactly, I'm just going to kind of eyeball this. And then you're just going to place it in the bottom of the tote. And it will give a little more stiffness to the bottom and help it to retain its shape a little bit better when you put things inside. So I'm just going to take it and place it inside the tote and you'll see it just kind of fills out that space a little bit better. So when you lift the bag it has a slightly more solid line to it. I hope that was helpful. Thank you so much for joining me and my name is Linda Hutchinson. Bye-bye.
