How to Cut Letter Stencils

    • 1). Print the letters you want to make a stencil for in the font and size you want the stencils to be. For letters such as "A" or "O" you will have to draw connecting lines from the outside of the letter to the inside hole of the letter so the two pieces don't get cut apart.

    • 2). Spray temporary adhesive on the front of a clear transparency. Place the printed letters on the transparency, or on more than one transparency, if necessary. Smooth out any air bubbles with your hands. The number of transparencies needed will depend on the size of the stencils. You can fit one printer sheet to one transparency.

    • 3). Place the transparency, with printer sheet attached, on a cutting mat, with the paper-covered side facing up. Trace the outline of the letter, and any connecting lines you added, with a craft knife. You may need to trace more than once to cut all the way through the transparency.

    • 4). Peel the printer paper off the transparency. Now you have a stencil you can use again and again.
