How to Reduce Brown Spots & Sun Damage
- 1). Exfoliate your skin with a good-quality facial scrub to remove pimple-causing sebaceous gland oils. Brown spots often appear in locations where blackheads and whiteheads used to be, a condition known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
- 2). Make your own lotion for lightening brown spots by boiling parsley for 15 minutes, straining it, and adding fresh lemon juice, a natural bleaching agent.
- 3). Apply the mixture, after it cools off, using a cotton pad. Make sure to cover all discolorations.
- 4). Store the remainder in a bottle and apply daily.
- 5). Make your own lightening mask by boiling a cup of oat flakes with four tbsps. of milk and stirring in a tablespoon of honey.
- 6). Apply the cooled mixture over your face and neck.
- 7). Rinse the mask off after ten minutes. Repeat the procedure weekly to reduce spots, prevent new ones from forming, and lighten and purify skin.
- 8). If you're still troubled by brown spots, try a good commercial lightening face cream with hydroquinone and kojic acid--both powerful bleaching agents. Other ingredients to look for are salycilic acid and glycolic acid--both of which stimulate the skin to produce new cells more efficiently--as well as antioxidants, such as green tea, and natural moisturizers like Aloe vera.
- 9). Wear sunscreen daily to help brown spots resolve and to prevent new ones from forming. Using a sunscreen with vitamins D and E helps to combat free radicals that contribute to brown spots.
