How to Build an Iron Firewood Rack
- 1). Cut four pieces of the 1-inch tubing with the grinding wheel to 60-inch lengths.
- 2). Cut three pieces of the tubing to 48-inch lengths.
- 3). Cut six pieces of the tubing to 12-inch lengths.
- 4). Clamp a 48-inch piece to a 60-inch piece two inches from the end of the 60-inch length. Weld the 48-inch long pieces to the 60-inch length. Weld the other end of the 48-inch piece similarly.
- 5). Clamp and weld another 48-inch length to the other two 60-inch pieces. You now have two sides of the firewood rack that will be joined together with a smaller length welded between the two.
- 6). Clamp and weld a 12-inch piece inside the 60-inch length at the point 2 inches from the end at the same height the 48-inch piece was welded. Weld another 12-inch length to the other side similarly. This structure provides the base of your firewood rack.
- 7). Weld the remaining 12-inch pieces between the top ends of the 60-inch lengths and mid-way between the 60-inch uprights to provide good support for these long pieces of steel.
- 8). Weld the last 48-inch tubing piece in the center between the two other 48-inch pieces to hold the wood securely on the rack.
- 9). File down the rough edges of the welds.
