Purse

• Make a cigar box into a purse. Line the inside of the box with felt or add dividers to keep the contents of the purse organized. Paint the exterior to cover up any labels or seal the box with clear varnish if you like the design as it is. Attach a latch to the outside of the box to keep it closed, and bolt or screw a handle or strap onto the side to make it easier to carry.
  
  

Ukulele or banjo

• Build a ukulele or other small stringed instrument around the cigar box. Kits are available online and in specialty stores that provide a bridge, neck, strings, and other pieces required to complete the project. Paint or seal the outside of the box with paint or varnish. Drill the sound holes and guide holes for the screws before gluing the box closed. Larger cigar boxes can be used to create larger instruments like banjos, and different sized boxes will make lower or higher sounding instruments.
