How to Fix a Scratch in a Granite Countertop
- 1). Rub #000 steel wool over an area that is unseen and test it to see if it seems to smooth the surface. If it doesn't do anything, use the #00 grade of steel wool. Test again.
- 2). Rub the steel wool you chose in a circular pattern over the scratch area to smooth it out.
- 3). Rub the countertop in a straight direction with a finer steel wool, like #000, after you have removed the scratch. This is to remove the circular pattern. Move the wool so that you rub in different directions. Keep using finer and finer material to create a polished look with no scratches.
