How to End a Crocheted Rug
- 1). Crochet the rug using your pattern until you reach the desired size. Leave the crochet hook in the loop. The last stitch on the pattern is a slip stitch connecting the row together. Snip the yarn hooked to the skein of yarn 8 inches away from the rug. When you pull the slip stitch through the loop, pull the cut end of the yarn through the slip stitch. Pull the knot tight.
- 2). Weave the hanging thread at the end of the rug into the finished stitches of the rug using a crochet hook or yarn needle. Use the crochet hook if your yarn is bulky or if you used cloth for crocheting your rug. Pull the thread back and forth between the stitches of the rug until you no longer see the ends.
- 3). Look over the whole rug. If you find other pieces of cloth or yarn dangling off the rug, weave them in using the same method.
- 4). Finish the rug by filling the spray bottle with water and screwing on the lid. Lay the rug on a flat surface and spray the surface facing up with water. You want the rug damp, not soaked. Flatten out any areas that are not laying flat. Let the rug dry. Flip the rug over and repeat the process on the other side. This helps set the stitches and keeps the rug flat. If you are using a material that allows ironing, iron over the material after it dries. This makes the rug flatter and keeps the stitches firmer.
