Directions for Melt Art
- 1). Plug in the melting pot. When you first plug it in, the green light will tell you that the pot is heating. The red light shows cycling as the temperature fluctuates. The highest temperature setting is 340 degrees. Set the temperature based on the product you will be melting. For example, to melt thick embossing enamels the temperature should be set to 340 degrees.
- 2). Pour the product into the pot. Fill the pot up to the fill line, and put the lid on. Do not stir during melting because it introduces air into the substance and creates bubbles.
- 3). Add dye once the product has melted completely. Squeeze a small amount of dye additive into the melted substance, and stir. You may mix dyes to create new colors.
- 4). Put a non-stick craft sheet down and place your mold on it. Always work on a craft sheet to protect your counter or table from the hot mixture. Pour the colored mixture into the mold. Silicone works best for your mold. Use the mold for one substance only. Do not mix. For instance, if creating a mold for enamel embossing powder, do not use it for soap too. You can also brush the melted medium directly on a surface, such as glass or paper mache. Place your piece on the craft sheet before applying the substance.
- 5). Clean the pot. Leave it set at high, and scrape out any remaining substances onto the craft sheet. Let it harden; you can reuse it. Use paper towels to wipe out the pot. The surface will be hot, so protect your hands. Turn the pot off, and store it.
