The Three Ways to Build an Internet Business
In this article I want to talk about the 3 main ways to build a business.
There may be other ways to build a business, but I've never heard of them.
These three ways are tried and true, and very common sense.
It doesn't really matter what you do, it doesn't really matter what you sell or how you sell it.
Strategically speaking, there are three main ways to build a business.
I think it was Jay Abraham who said this (but I'm not sure) to build a business you must: Increase the number of customers you have Persuade those customers to buy more in their initial orders Encourage those customers to buy more often from you (sell on the backend).
Those are the three main ways to grow a business.
How you go about each of those things is a matter of tactics (how do you get more clients, how do you persuade them to buy more initially, how do you encourage them to buy more often from you).

but from time to time I like to step back and point out the fundamental strategic ways to grow a business.
It's good to have perspective like that:-) So sit down today and take out 3 pieces of paper.
At the top of each page, write one of those three strategic points.
Spend a couple hours thinking of (and listing on those pages) different tactics that you can use to accomplish each of those goals.
Think back on some of the tactics that you've learned in the past.
When you're finished you'll have the beginnings of a solid marketing plan! You'll be absolutely surprised how easy things become when you look at them through the lens of those three ways of building a business.
So often we get tied up in trying the latest and greatest technique for building our businesses.
This week its email marketing, next week its twitter and Facebook and other social media channels, the week after that its social bookmarking like Digg and Reddit.
With all these buzz words, we often forget that building a business, any business, really only comes down to just created more customers, persuading those customers to buy more in their initial purchase, and encouraging those customers to come back and buy something else from you later.
It doesn't have to get more complicated than that! Let me ask you this.
When was the last time you sent your old customers an email or physical letter offering them a special deal on a new product? If you're like most online business owners, I'll bet the answer is "never".
Yet that simple thing, which can take less than 10 minutes for you to do, can drastically increase your business.
