How to Find Insurance for Log Homes
- 1). Contact State Farm, Farm Bureau, Met Life or a local insurer in your area. State Farm, Met Life and Farm Bureau are both known for insuring log homes where some other large companies will not.
- 2). Request information regarding the insurance policies offered for log homes by the companies you decide to contact. Ask to meet with a representative to discuss policies.
- 3). Bring details about your home to the meeting, including the kind of logs you used to build it, contact information for the contractor who built the home, the type of roof and the square footage. You'll have to fill out a questionnaire that gives the agent an idea of what type of coverage your home needs and what rates to charge you.
- 4). Talk about what the policy can cover and what deductible you're interested in. Request several different rates with different options and deductibles, since log home insurance can be high. It's better to know all your options.
- 5). Meet with other insurers and get quotes on similar packages. Decide which coverage is right for you and purchase the policy.
