How To Prepare Pizza Margherita Easily
Friday night after 5 days of hard work in the office is the time for pizzas. Time for a weekend party with your family and friends! You can also treat yourself with classic Margherita pizza made from vine fresh tomatoes, a little balsamic and mozzarella cheese. These toppings on the crisp crust will give you the taste of heaven. The simplicity of this Italian delicacy is that there is no use of artificial ketchup. Keep it fresh and simple. Serve this pizza with the right side dishes and pair it with the wines that go best with it.
In this article, I am going to write about how to prepare it and what side dishes and wines will tempt your taste buds.
INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED
€ 1 pizza crust or more as per requirement. It can be homemade or bought from the store. If homemade, then you will need 300g of strong bread flour.
€ 1 teaspoonful of instant yeast.
€ 1 teaspoonful salt.
€ 1 tablespoon of olive oil for more drizzling.
€ Handful of fresh basil.
€ 100ml passata.
€ 1 garlic clove which should be crushed.
THE TOPPINGS
€ Handful of shaved or grated parmesan
€ 125g mozzarella cheese.
€ Handful of fresh tomatoes sliced into halves.
€ For the finishing, handful of basil leaves.
METHOD OF PREPARATION
Preparing the Base for the Dough: Take a big bowl and put the flour in it and add the salt and the yeast. Stir it properly and create a well. Thereafter, pour 200ml of warm water and olive oil. Now, you have to mix it well using a wooden spoon till a properly wet and soft dough is ready. Next, you have to turn onto a floured surface and press the dough for about 5-6 minutes. Keep kneading until it becomes smooth. Then, you have to cover it with a tea towel and set it aside for a while. You can prefer to leave the dough for some time; however this is not necessary if you want a thin crust.
The above step can be skipped if you are buying the crust directly from any store.
Making Tomato Ragu (Sauce): To make a mouthwatering tomato ragu, you have to mix the basil, passata and crushed garlic thoroughly. The sauce needs proper seasoning for getting a sharp taste. Leave it for some time at room temperature so that you work well with the shaping of the dough.
Rolling out the Base: If you want the dough to rise, it needs a quick kneading. Thereafter, you are required to split it into two balls. Again, on a floured surface, the dough needs to be rolled out as big rounds using a rolling pin. Make sure the dough is very thin so that it rises well in the oven. Thereafter, you have to lift the round pieces onto 2 floured baking sheets.
Baking and Topping: You need to heat the oven to 240C/fan 220C /gas 8. Next, put another overturned baking tray or a baking sheet in your oven on the upper shelf. Next, spread the tomato ragu smoothly over the bases using the back of a spoon. Sprinkle with fresh tomato slices, cheese and also drizzle with olive oil. Next, you need to season. Place your pizza (which is still on the baking sheet) on top of the preheated tray or sheet. For making your pizza crisp, bake the same for about 8 to 10 minutes.
Your lip-smacking Margherita pizza is ready and can be served with basil leaves and a little olive oil.
Now, your Margherita pizza can be relished even more with side dishes and wines. Before I discuss these, let's have a look at some of the nutritional facts.

PAIRING YOUR MARGHERITA PIZZA WITH WINE
Dry Ros© or Garnacha: With the aromatic notes of fresh tomatoes and basil, this pizza will go best with dry ros© or Garnacia. Both are perfect for red wine aficionados. Since Margherita is a light pizza, it's better to choose lighter red wine varieties.
Barbera: Again, if you have a penchant for red, Barbera is a soft Italian red wine with pleasant fruity flavours. This wine will not subdue the simple ingredients of Margherita pizza but maintain its individual zesty taste.
Pinot Grigio: Do you wish to indulge in a white wine that is light, has a subtle herbal texture and crisp to taste? If so, then Pinot Grigio is the one to pair with this classic pizza having the moderate flavours of vine fresh tomato, mozzarella cheese and basil.
So, if you want to make your next weekend special minus the effort of preparing scrumptious Italian food at home, just book your table online in an Italian restaurant serving authentic Italian food.
