Face Shapes

  Faces fit into one of four basic shapes: round, triangular, square or oval. Round faces appear circular, with a rounded chin. Triangular faces are wider through the forehead and narrow in the chin region. Square faces feature a broad forehead and squared-off jaw. Oval faces are well-balanced, longer than they are wide with a rounded chin and forehead.

  Once you have assessed your facial shape look for eyeglass frames in a contrasting shape. For example, if your face is round, try on frames that are rectangular and wider than they are tall. Designs with straight lines provide a contrast on rounder faces. Triangular faces do well with small squared or rounded frames or rimless styles. Oval and round frames soften the appearance of a square face, while balanced, oval shaped faces can carry any frame design with style.
