How to Send Waypoints to a Garmin GPS
- 1). Place all your waypoint files in one directory, such as the computer desktop. If downloading more than one waypoint file, right-click an empty spot on the desktop and select "New" and "Folder." Name the folder and drag all waypoints to it.
- 2). Download and install POI Loader (see Resources). Follow the prompts to install the software on your computer. Once installed, open the POI Loader software.
- 3). Connect the Garmin GPS device to the computer using a USB cable. POI Loader will detect the Garmin.
- 4). Select "Garmin Device" under Save Options when prompted by POI Loader.
- 5). Click "Next" if the Garmin device is listed. If not, click "Find Device" and select the drive to which the Garmin is connected. Then click "Next."
- 6). Select "Install new custom POI's onto your device" when prompted. Click "Next."
- 7). Press the "Browse" button and select the directory containing the waypoint file(s). On the same screen, choose the units that should be used for distance and speed -- "Feet and MPH," and select "Express (Recommended)" mode. Click "Next." POI Loader will find all compatible waypoint files in that directory and download them to your device.
- 8). Click "Finish" when download is complete, and disconnect the Garmin.
