The Perfect Way to Boil an Egg
- 1). Place enough water in a saucepan so that it will cover your egg. Bring the water to the boil, and then turn to a medium heat to simmer.
- 2). Using a tablespoon, very gently lower your egg or eggs into the water.
- 3). Set the timer for 1 minute, and let the eggs simmer.
- 4). Take the saucepan off the heat, and place a lid on the pan. Set the timer again for 6 minutes if you would like your egg with a soft, fairly liquid yolk and the whites a little wobbly, or 7 minutes if you prefer the white to be firm and the yolk more creamy.
- 5). Take the eggs out of the water as soon as the timer goes off and place in an egg cup for serving.
- 1). Place egg or eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring the water to a simmering point.
- 2). After the water starts to simmer, set your timer to 7 minutes.
- 3). Immediately after the timer goes off, run the eggs under cold water so that they cool quickly. Leave them in cold water for a couple of minutes so that they are cool enough to handle.
- 4). Take the eggs out of the pan and then gently tap the eggs all over and peel. You should now have the perfect hard-boiled egg.
