    Identification

    • Jade plants have vibrant, shiny green leaves. Silver and Chinese jades have pale green leaves with spots on them. All three are toxic to both cats and dogs, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

    Nicknames

    • Common jade plants have several nicknames, including baby jade, jade tree, dwarf rubber, Chinese and Japanese rubber plant. Silver and Chinese jades are also known as silver dollars.

    Symptoms

    • Cats that eat any of the three types jade plants suffer from nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Loss of balance and a slowed heartbeat are symptoms exclusive to jade plant toxicity only; silver and Chinese jades do not cause these effects.
