How to Decorate a Pillar Candle
- 1). Choose a pillar candle to decorate. Pillar candles are available in a variety of scents, colors and sizes. Pick a traditional wax candle, or one made with clean-burning soy wax or beeswax. Buy a candle featuring a color that coordinates with a room, party theme or decorative style.
- 2). Enhance the candle with a mosaic pattern using colorful glass seed beads. Slide a seed bead onto a straight pin and push the pin all the way into the candle. Use a variety of different colored beads to create geometric designs and swirl patterns.
- 3). Glue pressed flowers and leaves to the pillar candle. Press small flowers and leaves between the pages of a heavy book to allow them to dry. Use craft glue to attach the flowers and leaves to the candle. Dip the decorated candle into melted paraffin to seal the decorations onto the candle.
- 4). Decorate the candle using acrylic craft paint. Depending on the desired look, use glossy or matte paint. Create designs such as hearts, flowers and stars using stencils. Use glitter glue for a shiny, festive look.
- 5). Tie a decorative ribbon around the pillar candle. Use a velvet ribbon for a glamorous look, or a piece of raffia for a country-inspired style. Choose a red and green ribbon to create a Christmas candle, or a pastel-hued ribbon for an Easter votive. Wrap the ribbon around the candle and tie a bow at the front.
