    • 1). Unroll the Mylar and lay it flat on your cutting board. Measure the dimensions you require and mark using your pen.

    • 2). Cut the Mylar using long, steady snips with sharp scissors. Use scissors for larger, less precise cuts.

    • 3). Draw the design or shape you'd like to cut from the Mylar using your pen.

    • 4). Cut along the lines of your design using a utility knife. Move slowly around details to prevent the Mylar from tearing.

    • 5). Plug the hot pen into an electric outlet and set to high, per the manufacturer's directions.

    • 6). Trace along the most intricate aspects of your design using the hot pen. The heat will melt the plastic producing a sharp, clean edge.
