How to Resurface Kitchen Cabinets Yourself
- 1). Remove the old cabinet doors.
- 2). Clean the grease and grime from the outside of the cabinet with TSP or another degreasing agent.
- 3). Measure the sides and frame of your cabinets, and cut out pieces of veneer (which should match the color and grain of your new cabinet doors) to match each outer surface.
- 4). Align one edge of each piece of veneer with the corresponding edge of the cabinet, then gently stick it on, smoothing it from one side to the other, like a piece of tape.
- 5). Trim any overhanging veneer with your utility knife.
- 6). Measure the new cabinet doors to align with the existing cabinet hardware, marking the screw holes with a pencil, then pre-drill new screw holes.
- 7). Attach the new cabinet doors using the existing cabinet hardware and screws.
