Stamped Concrete

• Stamped concrete can be one of the most economical solutions for those who want a flooring that looks and feels like rock without the price tag; concrete dyes can be used to make the illusion more complete. The dilemma, of course, is that the concrete can only be stamped as it's drying, making changes to existing flooring difficult if not virtually impossible, and for this reason it's primarily used in outdoor applications.
  
  

Vinyl Flooring

• There are several vinyl flooring options that are made to mimic the look and feel of rocks. Vinyl flooring typically comes as tiles, some of which can be ordered in stone shapes. Since these tiles are manmade, a variety of colors and textures are available and may be arranged as desired for application over a subfloor or preexisting floors. Vinyl flooring may also come as sheets, similar to laminate flooring.
  
  

Mosaic Tiles

• Many tile manufactures offer flat mosaic tiles that mimic the appearance of small river rocks and stones, fabricated into tile sheets that can be applied to subfloors with techniques similar to standard tile installation. These tiles may come glazed with a glossy finish or with a natural, roughened appearance.
  
  

Painted Concrete Floors

• Painting a concrete floor is usually fairly simple, and can be as detailed as the homeowner prefers. Steps must be taken to protect both the concrete and the paint---such as putting waterproof primer on the bare concrete and adding a protective layer of varnish atop the paint---and without frequent care, traffic may wear the paint away.
