All About Barn Shed Plans

Barns and sheds are as unique as the people who build them. This can be daunting when you are trying to figure out which barn shed plans best fit your needs. After looking through dozens (maybe even a hundred or more) plans, how do you know which ones are the best for your type of project?

1. A List of Materials

A good set of plans will do one of two things. They will plainly state a list of materials that you will need to complete your project or the plans will be easy enough to read that you can make a list of materials needed for the project by reading through them. If no list is provided and you cannot easily tell how many boards, screws, bolts, etc. you will need by looking at them, you need to move on to the next set.

2. Clearly Drawn Illustrations

Some barn shed plans merely spell out what you need to do for each step of your project. Good ones will also illustrate exactly how the different pieces are going to fit together and what their dimensions should be if they are put together properly. It is always good to have a picture that you can use for comparison. This will help you quickly discern if you are on the right track or if you need to re-do the last portion of your project.

3. Steps are Labeled

You will definitely want plans that walk you through your shed building steps in proper order. If you do not know which step to complete next, you might not build a shed that is structurally sound!

Finally, a good set of barn shed plans is put together for the novice reader. They should not be written to where you need and engineering degree in order to understand them. If you have no idea what you are looking at, choose a different set that you can read!
