How to Repair Faucet Sprayers

    • 1). Close the water valves on the pipes under the faucet. The valves are normally located in the sink cabinet.

    • 2). Remove the water control handle to the faucet (the straight handle lever, not the faucet sprayer lever). Take out the screw in the base of the handle with an Allen wrench and slide the handle off the faucet.

    • 3). Take the cap or sleeve off the faucet. This is the part under the handle. It is a round, cylindrical tube that covers the cartridge. Turn the part left to unscrew and remove.

    • 4). Remove adapters by unscrewing them from the top of the cartridge using a screwdriver. If your faucet uses a bonnet, loosen it by turning left and remove. If your faucet has screws in the cartridge, remove them with a screwdriver. Slide the cartridge out.

    • 5). Replace the cartridge with a new one made for your make and model faucet. Secure it by tightening the cartridge screws or threading on the bonnet. Reinstall the cap by threading it onto the faucet base and tightening it by hand.
