How to Lock a Wall Mount Gun Rack
- 1). Mark spots for the drill holes for the cable lock rope. They need to be in on the side of the rack where the butt of the guns rest. Use a pencil to mark the hole locations on the wood holder meant of the gun butt. The holes need to be about centered in the bottom of the holder. You need one hole on the bottom holder and one on the top holder if you are going to use one long cable lock. If desired, use a shorter cable lock and secure each gun individually. For this option, make a mark for a hole on each holder.
- 2). Drill a hole through the holders at the marks. Use a drill bit big enough to make a hole slightly larger than the cable you selected. Hold the rack holder firm with one hand as you drill. When the bit has almost gone through the wood, remove the drill. Go to the other side of the wood holder and finish drilling through from that side. This will give it a more finished look and keep you from splintering the outer edge of the wood surface.
- 3). Test the first hole by sliding the end of the cable lock through to see if it slides in. If not, use a larger bit or hole saw to widen it. Once you have the right size, drill out the rest of the holes.
- 4). Place the guns on the rack.
- 5). Feed the cable through the top hole and then through the trigger of the top gun. Afterward, run the cable through the triggers of the middle guns and then the bottom gun. Last, push the cable through the bottom hole and back up to the cable lock where you can secure the ends together. If you're using smaller, individual cable locks, run each one through the holder hole and trigger and then back around to the lock to secure it.
