How to Make a Natural Potpourri From Grapefruit
- 1). Gather fresh flowers and leaves on a dry day. Do so in the middle of the day when there is no dew. Dew can lead to flowers going moldy.
- 2). Place absorbent paper on a tray and lay the flowers and leaves across the tray. Make sure they are not touching or overlapping each other. Place in a warm, dry place to dry for several days.
- 3). Peel the pith from several grapefruits (and other citrus fruits if desired) using a sharp knife. Make the strips as long as possible so they maintain a pretty, curled effect. Lay the strips on a baking tray.
- 4). Place the baking tray in an oven heated to a low temperature (140F) and leave until the strips are completely dry. Take out of oven and leave to cool.
- 5). Mix flowers, leaves and citrus fruits in a large bowl and present your potpourri. Add a few drops of grapefruit essential oil if a stronger scent is desired.
