How to Repair Roll Up Blinds
- 1). Lift the blinds out of the bracket and lay them on a flat work surface. Repair them if blinds are stuck and will not raise. Turn the pin in the side of the roller with needle nose pliers until you feel the tension increase. Hang them back on the wall and test.
- 2). Increase the spring tension is blinds are difficult to raise and lift slowly. Use the lift cord to completely extend the blinds and remove them from the window. Place the blinds on a flat surface. Roll up the blinds half-way with your hands. Hang them back on the wall. Test the blinds and repeat this if they are still not working correctly.
- 3). Decrease the spring tension if blinds are rolling up too rapidly. Hand-roll the blinds all the way to the top of the roller and pull them out of the brackets. Lay the blinds on a flat surface roll half-way down by hand. Place the blinds back on the wall. Test the blinds and make sure they work correctly. Repeat this again if necessary.
- 4). Hand-roll blinds all the way to the top if they will not stay in place and lift them out of the brackets. Place the blinds on a flat work surface. Insert a tooth pick into the pawl -- small arm in roller--and try to clean off any debris. Spray a lubricant into the pawl to help loosen it.
- 5). Mount blinds back in the brackets and test. Lift and lower the blinds with the pull cord. If they still do not operate correctly, after trying above methods, then you may need to order replacement parts or replace them.
