Crafts for Halloween Treat Bags
- Buy an inexpensive wooden frame at your favorite craft store. Using paint appropriate for wood, paint it orange. Let the frame dry and write the name of your guest on the frame using a black paint pen. Use your computer's word processor program to find spooky font ideas, and use one of these when writing the person's name on the frame. At the party, take a digital picture of your guest in his costume and print it out before he leaves the party. Include this in the frame, and glue it to the front of a plain cardboard box. Remove the lid and attach a 2-inch-by-15-inch piece of felt with super glue to each side of the box to create a carrying handle for your bag. Line the bag you have created with orange felt.
- Purchase a reusable plastic tote bag from your local grocery store. It can be of any color or design since you will cover it with paint. Spray paint the bag orange using a can of spray paint intended for plastic. Allow this to fully dry and write the name of your guest on the bag in black marker. Embellish it further using cutouts such as pumpkins or witches that you can glue on the treat bag.
- Purchase a plain canvas tote bag at your hobby store. Use fabric paint and stencils to put Halloween images on the bag. If you prefer, paint your own design on the bag such as a pumpkin or monster. For a child, you might paint her favorite monster from a movie. To further enhance the Halloween treat bag, use paint that is three-dimensional or orange and black glitter to highlight your painted images.
- Some children choose to raise money for UNICEF during Halloween. This organization raises money for necessary food and medical services for children throughout the world. To promote this message, create a custom donation bag. Purchase a plain brown paper sack at the craft store. Use decorative paper and embellishments to customize this bag for each person's Halloween treat bag. Include images of children and the Earth on the bag to promote UNICEF's message. Include information on UNICEF and its mission on a sheet of paper inside the donation bag.
