Decorating With Window Frames

    • 1). Paint the window frames to match the rest of your interior design. For a shabby-chic feel, leave them as is.

    • 2). Paint the glass panes using glass paint. Create simple designs or more elaborate ones, such as a faux stained-glass look as artwork for your walls.

    • 3). Attach an art print to the back of an old clear-glass window frame using flat-headed tacks or staples. Hang the frame on the wall or set it up on a fireplace mantle for decorating inspiration.

    • 4). Make copies of your favorite photographs, one for each pane, so that they are about an inch bigger around than the panes. Glue, or tack in, the photos to the back for a custom picture frame.

    • 5). Attach small shelves to the front of a sturdy, sound window frame. Hang on the wall to display collectibles.

    • 6). Build a plywood box and use the window frame as a door for it. Put shelves in it if you are going to use it vertically like a cabinet. Or line it with fabric if you are going to use it as a storage box.

    • 7). Attach a table leg to each corner of the frame for a custom green-living, interior-design end table or coffee table. Screw the legs in using a drill or screwdriver. Decorate the sides of the window frame with trim that matches the other molding in the room.
