Interactions between carbamazepine oral and selected-anticonvulsants-delavirdine-etravirine

How the interaction occurs:


Certain anticonvulsants may speed up how quickly your liver processes delavirdine or etravirine.

What might happen:


Your blood levels of delavirdine or etravirine may decrease. If the amount of medicine decreases too much, it may not be effective against your HIV infection and your HIV infection may develop resistance to these and other non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTI's).

What you should do about this interaction:


Contact your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) as soon as possible about taking these medicines together.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
