How to Buff Polyurethane
- 1). Sweep your polyurethane floors thoroughly to remove as much surface debris as possible, scooping up all the dirt and dust into a dustpan. If you're dealing with a polyurethane-coated piece of furniture, dust it lightly with a feather duster.
- 2). Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water. Dip a mop or soft cloth into the water and wipe down the floor or piece of furniture completely, removing any residual dust or stains. Allow the floor or piece of furniture to dry for at least a couple hours.
- 3). Fold a large, soft cloth in half until you have a thick piece of cloth as big as your hand. Rub the cloth against the floor or furniture piece, making quick back-and-forth motions over the entire surface area to buff it to a strong shine. While it takes some time to buff the entire floor or piece of furniture in this fashion, this simple method is quite effective.
