EFT - What Is It, And How Do You Use Emotional Freedom Technique?
Do you have days of desperation, where you scour the internet for alternative medicines that might help with the pain you're in?I have a cupboard full of herbal remedies, fish oils, vitamins and strange Chinese medicines that all promise to help with the pain.
In all honesty they did not seem to make any difference.
There is no rhyme or reason for why you have bad days and your body seizes up.
The day before you may have felt great, and then you wake the next morning to find you can hardly move.
Trying Out EFT When I was first introduced to EFT, I have to say I was extremely sceptical.
I'm not adverse to trying new things, but it did seem a bit out there.
I think what helped was that I immediately connected with the guy training me in its use who was a doubt a just a nice bloke wanting to help.
So I figured it couldn't hurt, and I am so glad I made that decision.
We started just focusing on specific areas of pain that were really troubling me.
What Is EFT? Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT is a sort of acupuncture without needles.
You tap on the same meridian lines that Chinese Medicine uses.
It sounds like it shouldn't work, but at least for me it gets me dramatic results.
This first time, tapping and concentrating on these areas did help a lot in reducing the discomfort, and I was surprised at how effective just a few minutes of tapping could be.
Uncovering Underlying Issues With EFT As time went on we used EFT technique to uncover underlying issues, and traumas that were still emotionally affecting me in my subconscious.
I like to think of myself as an emotionally strong individual.
I have counselled many people with a wide variety of issues, and always thought I was just managing what life was throwing at me.
On the outside I was, but I was also emotionally shattered, and I have no doubt that a lot of my physical pain was emotionally triggered.
For me, Emotional Freedom Technique is exactly what it claims to be.
It helps you let go of extreme emotions that are governing your way of life - whether you realise it or not.
And it's these extreme emotions - stress, fear, anger, regret that manifest themselves as symptoms in the body.
Learning More About EFT After my first EFT session I did some research on it and found it was developed by Gary Craig.
I watched films of it being used on war veterans who were really suffering with Post Traumatic Stress.
The results were incredible, and so quick.
The beauty of EFT is that you can do it yourself with no pill popping involved.
Once you learn how to do the tapping it can become a way of life, helping you cope so much better than you were doing.
I use it all the time now, feeding myself positive statements even when I'm driving.
I also trained as an EFT Practitioner and I sometimes use it on my clients when I see they are struggling with particular issues.
I've found it to be a clever little tool I can sometimes pull out my counselling toolbox as and when it's needed.
