How to Lift a Couch Off of the Floor
- 1). Remove couch cushions and pillows to reduce the weight of the furniture.
- 2). Put on thick gloves to protect your hands during the lifting process and wear non-slip shoes to prevent accidentally falling while holding the couch.
- 3). Squat down and gently lift the bottom of the couch to test the weight of the couch.
- 4). Stand up slowly while holding the bottom of the couch. Ask a friend to lift the opposite end of the couch to avoid back sprains.
- 5). Hold the bottom of the couch and move it to the new location. Slowly squat down to the floor to set the couch down. The two of you must squat simultaneously to support the weight of the couch.
- 6). Place the cushions and pillows back onto the couch as previously arranged.
