How to Make Furniture Become Super Glossy
- 1). Place a drop cloth underneath the furniture to be painted and put on respirator mask and protective gloves.
- 2). Sand the furniture with fine sandpaper until smooth. Depending upon the size of the piece and the time involved, you might opt to use an orbital sander as opposed to hand sanding. The objective is to achieve a completely smooth, blemish-free surface.
- 3). Wipe the furniture down carefully with a tack cloth to remove sanded particles.
- 4). Apply one coat of oil-based primer and allow the surfaces to dry according to the time recommended by the manufacturer.
- 5). Sand the furniture with fine sandpaper once again, cleaning it off with a tack cloth when finished.
- 6). Apply one coat of high-gloss oil-based paint with a foam roller. Using a foam roller prevents the appearance of brush marks. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry.
- 7). Repeat the sanding process and apply an additional coat of high-gloss paint.
- 8). Coat the furniture with clear polyurethane sealer.
- 9). Lightly sand the furniture after the sealer dries and then wipe it down with a tack cloth.

Apply a second coat of polyurethane. If desired, sand again and apply a third coat.
