How to Pass Your Driver's License Test With Free Online Tests

101 2
In United States, two out of three fail their first attempt to pass their written driver's license test. At the same time, many foreign students say that the DMV tests in United States are a lot easier than anywhere else.

So why then, do so many fail?

The simple truth is that many young Americans think that they do not have to study. They think that most of the rules of the road are just common sense. Sure, it is common sense, but only when you have the knowledge.

When you prepare for the DMV Test, Learners Permit test or Drivers Permit test, start by reading the driver's handbook or manual. Do not skip this step. A driver's license is not something you can afford to cheat your way through. The more you know, the better driver you will be. In addition, the better driver you are, the less likely it is that you end up in a crash.

Many of the details in the driver's handbook might seem irrelevant or insignificant for your driving skills. However, knowing your numbers is an important part of the examination. Typical questions will deal with the speed limits in school zones, the distance you must keep to a fire post or a railroad crossing when you park your car. Other question might focus on the length of driver's license suspensions or the penalties for some common moving violations.

Typically, you will also find questions about drinking and driving.

Study these chapters carefully.

When you know your state's handbook or manual, you are ready for some practice tests. The questions in a practice or preparation test will give you an idea about what you will face at the real exam.

Take your first practice test a couple of weeks before your exam. Then take a few tests each day in the weeks that follow. Do not wait until the last minute to soak up knowledge. The easier everything seems the better. This will boast your confidence.

You can find free DMV tests at many places, like these two that I find really good:

No need to pay for cheat sheets or small packages with 50 questions, these free sites are probably all you need.

Some final advice when it comes to taking an real test: read each question and every possible answer carefully.

Remember, there are no trick questions. Nevertheless, sometimes it is easy to jump to conclusions too quickly. Take your time! Make sure you understand the question. Then, look at the alternatives again.

If the question is a total blank, take a deep breath and skip it. You will have the chance to return to it later, if necessary. Focus on the easy ones and the ones you know the answer to. Save the wild guesses. A wrong answer will only make you nervous.

Afterwards you will probably be one of these people who say that it was all common sense. But was it?
