How to Reset the High Limit Switch on a Dacor Oven
- 1). Shut off the electrical power to the oven at the breaker box. This is the most important step. Never attempt to dismantle any component of any oven without cutting the electricity to it.
- 2). Open the oven door. Unscrew the mounting screws for the faceplate around the oven. If your oven is part of a range, the faceplate outlines the front of the oven behind the door. If your oven is part of a wall-mounted double oven, the faceplate may outline both ovens. Put the screws in a safe place and carefully pull the faceplate away from the oven.
- 3). Locate the high limit switch for your oven. On most Dacor ovens it will be installed along the top edge of the oven. Consult your Dacor oven user manual to find the switch for your model. The switch will be about the size of a dime and have wires running to and from it. It will have a small red button on top. This is the reset button.
- 4). Vacuum the area with a cordless vacuum cleaner or a dust brush attachment on a regular vacuum, if needed.
- 5). Depress the small red button on top of the switch to reset it. Screw the faceplate back onto the oven. Turn the electrical power back on and test the oven. If the oven still doesn’t heat, call a qualified repair technician. If the oven heats for a short time and stops again, do not repeat this procedure. Call an authorized service technician because the switch is tripping because of another problem that needs to be addressed.
