How to Clean a Muddy Leather Vest
- 1). Wait for the mud to dry on the vest before attempting to clean it. Wipe the dry mud off with a soft cloth.
- 2). Dampen a clean cloth with water, and wipe off the mud. Rinse the cloth, and clean the vest with the damp cloth until all traces of the mud are gone.
- 3). Use mild hand soap if mud still remains on the leather. Apply a small amount of soap in the palm of your hand, and make a lather with warm water.
- 4). Rub the lather gently onto the leather, and wipe with a clean cloth.
- 5). Clean the soap off the leather with a damp clean cloth.
- 6). Wait for the leather to dry naturally, and apply a conditioner to the leather, or rub olive oil into the cleaned leather. Use olive oil sparingly; apply a small amount to a dry cloth, and rub into the leather.
- 7). Remove excess oil with a dry cloth.
