How to Make Parachute Men as a Children's Craft
- 1). Cut a 12- to 15-inch diameter circle out of a shopping bag or trash bag. Shape it by folding it into a square and trimming the edges of the open side. Use very sharp scissors to keep from tearing the plastic.
- 2). Cut six 30-inch-long pieces of string. Dental floss works very well for this project, but any lightweight string is effective.
- 3). Lay the body of your parachute on a flat surface and place six small pieces of tape at equal distances around the perimeter very near the edges. This reinforces the plastic at the points where you will attach the string.
- 4). Punch holes through the taped edges of the bag with the punch, and thread the string through each hole. Tie off the string to secure it to the parachute.
- 5). Measure down 20 inches from the parachute and tie all of the strings together into a single knot. This leaves several inches of free string below the knot with which to secure your action figure.
- 6). Lay your action figure on the knot and loop two of the strings under its arms and tie them behind its head. Tie the remaining strings around the figure's midsection.
- 7). Pack your parachute by pinching the top of the parachute in two fingers and sliding your hand to the bottom. Gently wrap the strings around the parachute until it lies against the figure like a backpack. Find an open space and launch your parachute by throwing it in the sky as high as you can. Your parachute should catch the air and float to the ground.
