How to Make Pillows With Huichol Yarn
- 1). Draw the outline of a flower onto the pillow. Work on one flower at a time due to the possible distorting effect of adding the yarn.
- 2). Outline the flower with yarn, applying it to the pillow with fabric adhesive. Fill in the outline with more yarn, coiling the yarn tautly inside the figure so there are no gaps.
- 3). Apply green yarn for the stems and leaves of the flower, using the same adhesive. Leave the leaves for last, until you have finished all the flower portions of your pillow; add the leaves once you know how much space you have left for them.
- 4). Apply yellow yarn to the centers of the flower, gluing small spirals of yarn onto the existing flower pattern.
- 5). Leave the background blank, or fill in the rest of the pillow canvas with more tightly-packed yarn adhered to the surface in long strands.
