How to Make Coffin Handles
- 1). Drill holes in the lumber that forms the base of the coffin. The holes should be about 4 inches from the bottom of the coffin and should have the same diameter as the rope. Create six evenly spaced holes on each side, This will allow for the creation of three handles on each side. Place two holes in the head and foot of the coffin to allow for one handle in each place.
- 2). Thread the rope through one of the holes. Tie a knot on the inside of the coffin and pull the rope through to the outside. Thread the rope back through the next hole to create a handle around 20 inches long.
- 3). Thread the rope through all the holes so that you have eight handles total -- three on each side and one at the head and foot of the coffin. Tie a knot in the end of the rope inside the coffin.
