Normal Clothing


All people living in Rome mainly wore tunics due to its simplicity.

Togas


Togas were only allowed to be worn by free citizens of Rome.

Female Clothing


The basic clothing for women was the stola, which was a long tunic that could have either long or short sleeves.

Footwear


Soft leather shoes were the main footwear. Sandals were also worn, but were mainly worn indoors.

Special Colors


Only the elite could wear purple, since the purple dye was so expensive to produce.
