  • salicylic acid - helps to reduce blackheads and whiteheads and affects the cells lining the hair follicles
  • sulfur - helps remove blackheads and whiteheads.
All of these active ingredients can have side effects such as redness, skin irritation and sensitivity to the sun.
  They can be effective if taken regularly for a number of weeks.

  Diet can be an effective way to manage the development of pimples.
  Some foods may promote the development of pimples and it is important to know what these foods are.
  Some of the most desirable foods for teenagers, such as pop and chips, are not the best foods to achieve clear skin.
  Drink lots of water; several glasses a day promotes clear skin.
  Over the counter and prescription medications are commonly used for treatment of pimples,  consideration should also be given to what you eat and drink.
